*ISO a unicorn?* single ended bath, waste and taps in middle. Ideally large

As title says. I would love a single ended bath that we can use for a shower overhead but with the plug and bath taps and shower controls in the centre. So I can have a fixed shower screen. Has anyone seen anything please. Only one I have found is carron and costs £1.5k for bath alone, no panels. Thank you

Bette ocean? It’s steel so you can drill the tap holes, or wall mount the taps, or have a central filler. Different length and depths

Oh thank you will take a look now. Does steel make it cold? Or do you insulate inside bath panels?

I needed a specific shape of bath and I went to a bathroom shop and got a stack of their catalogues and just ploughed through them. I did find my unicorn eventually.

Yep we have this one and it is a lovely bath! Taps/shower control are on the wall, bath water fills via the overflow. Pop up waste. Feels very luxe.

This may be my plan for an exciting day off tomorrow. End up going snow blind as all look so similar after a while. But this gives me hope I will find my unicorn, thank you!

Something like this
They call it double ended, but it has a shower over the top

No it holds the heat really well, like a cast iron bath. Feels weighty and high quality.

You are all amazing. I am under time pressure as work starts on Monday and was really panicking. Giant hot bath without annoying leaking shower screen moving around was my non negotiable and I was worried I would have to compromise. Thank you, truly grateful!

OP, I’ve literally just chucked a double ended steel Victorian bath in the skip ( couldn’t get rid of it any other way despite offering on freecycle etc!)
I found it cold and uncomfortable. Looking forward to my lovely comfy, warm acrylic double ended bath when it’s fitted!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 21/11/2024 19:45

Oh no don't tell me so! I found a lovely Beaufort Rockall acrylic bath but the plug is at the shower end so no good for me. Cold Edwardian house here, small en suite but with big bath plans. And insulating the bathroom to within an inch of its life

Have three good options now thank you. Now moved onto Japanese style loo and flooring. Nothing like a last minute planning session.

I have a Mira digital shower and bath controller, no taps at all and you put it on the wall wherever you like. Bath with centred plug and flow is a Carron though.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 21/11/2024 20:05

Oh that sounds good. Mira is a brand I recognise too. Thanks for the tip will investigate now

Ended up buying the thick acrylic rockall beaufort 1800 bath with central plug and the plumber set it so the bath water comes out of the overflow. Shower and bath controls at the near end of the bath on the wall. Ir is brilliant. And stays warm. Have a mega powered fan about it to try to air the room and just had a new double glazed window fitted. Really love the ensuite

single ended bath, waste and taps in middle.

you do know single ended LITERALLY means taps at one end right? That is the one defining feature of a singled ended bath, taps in the middle is a double ended bath.

It cant possibly exist because you are asking for two things that mean opposite things.

Pinkywoo · 02/02/2025 13:21

Can you not get a single ended bath with no tap holes and have a wall mounted tap and controls? This was you can put the tap wherever you like. We have this one for the bath and shower, temperature control in the middle.

It doesn't, single ended with no tap holes means rounded at one end (for comfort when having a bath), and flat at the other so yo can stand right up to the end when having a shower. However I have just noticed OP posted in November so presumably has a bath by now!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 02/02/2025 14:23

@Pinkywoo yes that is what double/single ended means. But I understand why @housethatbuiltme was confused as nearly all of the time the tap/waste is at the same end.
I think thread is in active because I just updated thread to say that I had found a bath and we did exactly what you suggested with wall mounted controls and it is great. Hot water comes out of the overflow above waste in the middle which is really neat.
