Awkward bathroom layout redesign

Evening DIYers. Does anyone have any wise suggestions on how to redesign this bathroom (see photos). It's a little awkward in shape. Ideally, would like it to have the usual: bath, separate shower, basin, toilet and towel rail.

I'll be going to a showroom to see what they suggest, but just playing around with ideas for now. Thanks, gurus!

Where is the soil stack currently?

And can the door be made to swing outwards?

And can the door be made to swing outwards?

Door swings outward so it doesn't take any floor space. Rough plot of current setup added.

Can the door be moved? What is the other side of the wall?

I did think about this. It's the hallway on the other side of the door/wall, so it could be done in theory.

Japanese soaking tub where the bath is then a luxurious walk in shower at the end of it.

Geneticsbunny · 18/11/2024 22:38

How wide is the door frame?

Geneticsbunny · 18/11/2024 22:42

Ok a standard door is about 72 cm wide. So unless you are happy with a short bath (less than 170cm) the bath has to stay where it is.

Franklet · 18/11/2024 22:51

What don't you like about the current arrangement?

I'm short so a small bath isn't the end of the world for me, and chief bathed in our house. I have one a month max. Yes, standard door.

What don't you like about the current arrangement?

It feels tight and awkward. It's v compact.

This is a quick knock up. Small bath (1300mm) and moving the doorframe. Option 1.

Option 2. Weird walking straight into a bath?

Option 3. Original and current layout.

To make to most of the space, you need the door frame in the middle of that wall. However. It will always feel small, because it is small. The only way to change that is to either have a shower over bath or get rid of either the bath or the shower.

parietal · 19/11/2024 21:22

option 2 from @funnyonionn but swap the bath and the basin/towel rail.

RandomMess · 19/11/2024 21:22

If you had the door in the middle and had long slim shower instead of corner in layout 3 then the toilet and handbasin next to each other?

I suggested a Japanese soaking bath, they are much shorter and would give more options.

parietal · 19/11/2024 21:22

@funnyonionn - what software are you using?

RandomMess · 19/11/2024 21:30

A variation on option 1 with the handbasin against the bath rather than opposite the loo would work better or having the loo at a 90 degree angle back to shower with a false half height wall perhaps?

Is there any space you can steal from a neighbouring room?

RandomMess · 19/11/2024 21:32

Or a bath like this in option 2 so the door goes opposite the shower and the handbasin in the corner where the door used to be.

Option 1, but move towel rail above the bath, then you can make the shower a walk in 1200 x 700.

RandomMess · 19/11/2024 21:48

@BabyFever246 I agree but a different shaped bath (funky compact corner one perhaps) then the sink can go next to the loo by the window and it will feel more spacious I think.
