Lost two buyers and gazumped

Apologies, I just need to vent my frustrations!!

In January this year. My DH and I decided we wanted to downsize and move away from the area.

We first sold three weeks of putting the house on the market. We were due to complete the first time in June (Four months into the process) so I gave up my job (I am 56) in May. The buyers pulled out two weeks later due to change in career and moving abroad. Roll forward to August we find another buyer. The property we had planned to buy was still on the market! But we offered a lower price as we had accepted a lower price on our property which was initially accepted. Five days later we were gazumped :(

However we found an even nicer property two days later. Made an offer so all was well. The dream was back on! Our 2nd buyers were keen. Viewed twice. Unfortunately they pulled out last week due to their Vastu beliefs. My heart just sank.

If you believe in Vastu or Feng Shui, why view a house that clearly doesn’t fit your beliefs?

We start Round 3 of this moving saga on Monday. The property we were buying (and spent a fortune on searches and a full survey) has gone back on the market.

It’s now November, and the stress has taken its toll on my Dear DH and myself.

I’m now having tests for suspected Uterine Cancer.

2024 has been a hell of a year!

I am so sorry op, that sounds beyond horrendous. How stressful and awful for you. We are right at the start of this process (literally a month in) and we are fed up with it already so I cannot imagine how bad it is for you. I had to google Vastu beliefs!!!
I so hope your tests come back clear and you get everything sorted and can buy your perfect new house xx

Gosh I'm sorry OP sounds bloody awful

This is also why I've parked moving (single parent 3 young kids) as I just can't deal with the stress of it all finding the dream house and then losing it due to chains breaking gazumping etc

Never heard of ruddy Vastu sounds like an excuse to me!

Hugs. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time.
I’ve never found moving easy despite selling first and then offering on another property. People are such liars, we’ve been strung along so often, and that includes Estate Agents.

What the flipping heck are ‘Vastu beliefs’? Anyway, yes it’s a very frustrating process. I hope I never have to move again.

IMO all that woo stuff about houses is nonsense; however, if people do want to believe in it, fair enough, but they should get their ducks in a row before offering on a house, and not mess other people about. I think some people just use it as an excuse.
