Thinking of moving to Surrey (within 20 mins of Guildford)

Hi all,
So, we're a young family currently living in Norfolk but wanting to move to Guildford's surrounding areas for the foreseeable future as it makes sense for our lifestyle (easier to get to wider family, better travel links etc).

We wouldn't mind somewhere a little more rural as long as we'd be within 20 (ish) mins (short) drive from Guildford Station. Also as we have a little one who will be of school age in a few years, we're also wanting to sus out which areas have desirable schools so we can plan ahead. Can any locals recommend which areas to wishlist and where to avoid please?
Thanks! 😊

Godalming is not too far from Guildford, nice town, busbridge road area is nice, and just south of the main town. 20 minutes from Guildford station could be a bit further out if you like rural, churt is pretty, thursley also very nice, Surrey generally very nice place to live.

Why 20 mins from Guildford station? Further down the train line the villages are good - Milford, Witley or even Haslemere. Chiddingfold is great and a short drive to Worley station.

Nice area. I’m not far from there. What’s your budget and what size of house? A 3 bed would be 7-800 in edge of Guildford but can be much cheaper in surrounding towns. Eg Aldershot.

Farnham? Good state schooling
Depends what time of the day you’re thinking of a 20 min drive… it can take that long to get round the Guildford one way system 🤣

South of the A3 is generally considered more desirable than north of it.

Thanks everyone! The 20 minutes is sort of a rough estimate as we have family that come to us that are not entirely mobile. It's important not to be too far from a main station, hence why we're drawn to Guildford as it's a straightforward trip into London.
Does anyone have any experience of schools in the areas mentioned?
