How do you choose the colour for windows?

We’re looking to replace the windows in our 1970’s faux Cotswold stone house.

There are 4 identical houses in the street, three including ours have white windows, facials and soffits, one cream.

I definitely don’t want white again. It’s either going to be cream (okay but not that interesting) or a grey/green. But how do you choose? And what do you do with the fascias? Do they stay white?

I mentioned the faux Cotswold stone, because it does not have the warmth of real Cotswold stone, so I’m not sure of the Painswick/agate grey I’m looking at will work. But some cream windows are too yellow and look ghastly!

I will get samples to put against the stone, but I’m interested in hearing your window stories please, or seeing pictures.

If you are actually in the Cotswolds the local council planning department will probably have advice on their website about choosing colours.

I'm actually in the cotswolds but the council do not have advice. It's not a listed house or in a conservation area.
I'm looking for personal experiences.

We have dark grey and love them. I also love green windows but wouldn't be brave enough to go for that.

I chose French grey from Timber windows. It's a slight greeny grey which looks lovely.

We trawled around all the villages looking at the colours of windows on houses with same colour bricks as ours.

We have red brick and went for off white (but it doesn't look yellow at all) We are in conservation area though so wouldn't have had free reign for anything whacky. Find a house with bricks like yours and windows you like. Even knock on their door and ask what colour they are!

This is a pic of the colour

I think you should always go neutral on something that is a major PITA to replace. It doesn't date like the brown windows of the 1980s did and like the grey windows that are currently popular will.

Thanks everyone.
@PickleSarnie I've tried to find another house with the same brick. Unfortunately our neighbours are the only ones I've found so far. I took drive round looking at everyone's windows and facias;)
