Hi,
I have 2 small children ages 4-5 that love to jump/run around inside the house. However this is causing my neighbours distress via impact noise to the flooring and through to their property. Note this is neighbours to the side of the property, not above or below.
Whilst I do not want to cause my neighbours distress, I also have to let kids be kids.
We have wooden flooring with a very fine foam underlay. I do not believe this to be glued down. I do not know how far the wood flooring goes under skirtings or how it is in contact with the neighbouring property.
However after speaking to soundproofers on how to fix the issue. Its a case of take up flooring, lay a better underlay, ensure a barrier between boards and wall/skirting.
Sounds a reasonable solution but also is quoted to be £5k+ which I just cannot afford.
I have two large rugs that take up maybe 2/3rd of the room, however they do not appear to do anything.
I would very much appreciate some advice on what I may be able to do limit the impact sounds to next door that is also within a reasonable budget.
Many thanks
A
