What colour vinyl flooring would you suggest? pics attached

We recently moved into our new home which has a carpeted entrance way. I have a dog so it's not ideal - hence I left all the plastic wrap down after the movers had left! It's solved the problem over the summer months but now that we are heading into winter and dog walks are wetter and muddier it's going to all end up trashed.

Anyway I'd like to get some vinyl down and would like some suggestions on the best type/look. I have black tiles in the kitchen and the stairs/lounge are the same colour carpet as the entrance way.

Should I try and match the kitchen flooring do you think? Or go for something totally different, and if so what sort?!

Thank you for any advice.

I'd add a statement piece! Something jazzy so that it's different on purpose.

Match the kitchen tiles or it's going to look piecemeal.

I'd have vinyl with a fairly classic pattern that combines the stair carpet colour (but go brighter/lighter) with a black repeated design.

Or grey and white?

It's hard to judge what the scale of the pattern should be from that photo.

If you put the word vinyl in the search engine on here, quite a few useful threads pop up containing good recommendations.

That's rather nice, but it's an L shaped space so I wonder if a design like that would still work?

Black and white patterned. Which period is your house?

it's 1970s but definitely has a 'country' vibe going on - pine kitchen units, dresser, dining table etc.

Sorry I didn't really mean that design specifically. Just posted that to give you potential colour combinations. For an L shape you would need a smaller repeating pattern. Or just carry the grey tiles on throughout entire space if you can get a good match.

I would go for a natural wood look vinyl, it will be inoffensive against the kitchen floor and will compliment the carpet colour.

Have you got other decorating to do? The only reason I ask is that if decorating, renovations and furniture moving need to take place then everything generally has to come in or out through the hall. If that's the case then I would just buy or hire a carpet cleaner in the short term.
