What would be a good layout for the tiles in our bathroom?

I've decided at last we'll have just one wall tiled in our bathroom. ( The wall behind the bath/ shower and basin). It's a long and narrow room and it will be one of the long walls.

The tiles I've chosen are 6.5cm x 20 cm. Husband is against a horizontal brick bond ( hope that's the right term). I have no strong views except I don't much like the look of a vertical brick bond.

So I think this would leave a block (?) type layout , whether horizontal or vertical. Are there any points to bear in mind about either vertical or horizontal? Any tips would be great thanks.

Herringbone?

Horizontal would tend to widen the area visually, vertical would tend to lengthen it iyswim? It's a very personal decision OP! We went with horizontal brick bond, I wasn't convinced by the idea but I really liked it once it was done. It was fortunate that I liked it as our entire bathroom is tiled so it could easily have been a bit of a problem...🤣

Herringbone is fabulous, might be expensive in terms of wastage because of the cuts possibly? No idea, just thinking about it from a sewing perspective - more pattern = more wastage!

Thanks everyone.

Herringbone does look nice, yes. I don't think the tiler would find it very easy however because there are a lot of shower bits and pieces to tile around.

Will try and post some pics

We are going to do vertical behind shower/bath and horizontal behind sink. No science, just looks nice
