wren kitchens are replacing my peeling and poorly made cupboard doors with some new ones. I currently have shaker cashmere and i am forever getting comments with how it looks.

although not sure if i should get it again. i love the colour (griege) but i am reading how dated grey is.

i also love shaker, olive green but i don’t want to
make the same mistake again getting something which will date.

i defiantly do not want white or cream.

help!

I couldn't navigate the website properly but I liked the Japandi style kitchen units.

Have neutral coloured doors. I don't like grey as a rule but the pebble grey in the photos looks nice.

I don't like the green.

I'm not mad keen on shaker. It depends on the style of house I suppose. Aside from that I love greens and could live with a green shaker kitchen for a good few years.

White is the most neutral, it is easy to update around white.

Dontsparethehorses · 31/10/2024 06:09

Got to love mn

OP- I don’t want white or cream…
Poster - go for white

I think you go for what you love - if that’s green then go for that, if it’s grey stick with it. We’ve gone for navy which I get may go out of fashion but I absolutely love it and know I will be living with the kitchen for a long time!

Pipsquiggle · 31/10/2024 06:24

What are the colours of your floor and worktop?

ReformMyArse · 31/10/2024 06:42

The olive green is lovely and quite neutral. Shaker is a classic. Having said that, all kitchens date. I’d maybe opt for wooden worktops as I think all the white marble is already dated. Basically, to avoid dating avoid anything currently trendy- coloured islands, gold or black hardware, white marble with the veins.

Bananaram · 31/10/2024 06:45

Out of those 2 colours I love the green. Does it matter if the colour is dated if you love it?

We went for cream units (sorry, I know you said you don't want cream!) and have our walls painted a very similar green to the colour in your picture. I love it and I don't care if it dates as I've never been on trend a day in my life anyway 😁 but when I do get fed up of it it's so much easier to paint the walls a different colour than it is to paint/change the cupboards

Powderblue1 · 31/10/2024 06:45

I'd go neutral. Kitchen are a long standing purchase and whilst I love the green it won't always be in fashion. If you like green, I'd go for the entirely colour and add the green to the walls

K10f1 · 31/10/2024 06:51

I'd get what you like and not worry about going in and out of fashion. You're the person who has to look at it all day. I quite liked sea foam with wren (I think that's what it was called). Didn't end up choosing a wren kitchen but I have gone for a light blue/green colour. Ultimately it's the colour that will work best with other things on the room (paintings, sofas etc) so I chose it. I like blue, I wear a lot of it etc. I figure I'm unlikely to dislike it in the future whatever fashions are, and if future me does hate it I'll paint it or something.

I had a lovely grey kitchen on my old house. The company that I bought it from folded during COVID and I've not found anywhere that did quite the same shade again (it sat somewhere between blue, grey and slightly purple, but was somehow light). If I had been able to have the same kitchen again I might have chosen it.

Bedtimewoes91 · 31/10/2024 07:35

I agree - go with what you love since you're the one that will have to look at it everyday! I'll be having sunny yellow when it's my turn for a new kitchen!
