Buying a house in Woodford, Epping or Gidea Park

Me and my husband are currently house hunting in Woodford, Gidea Park (north side of station) and Epping. We have visited the areas a few times and lime the feel of them all. My husband is black and we're planning on starting a family soon and we want to ensure our kids are brought up in an area where people are open minded and an area that's not known for having lots of racism and backwards people.

We want to settle somewhere with decent school, good links to central London and friendly open minded locals. I'm aware these areas may not be super multicultural but if some are more than others that may influence our decision as we'd prefer to not live in an all white neighbourhood.

Can people who know any of the areas well shed some light on them? Thanks in advance for any insights!

I crew up near Woodford so am familiar with those areas. I'd definitely chose Epping out of those areas.

I live in Woodford and grew up in surrounding areas, it’s multicultural enough. My neighbours all along the road are a mixed bunch.
Plenty of decent schools to choose from. Close to London with night tube on Central line.

Thank you, in Woodford, which are the nicer areas? I know around Monkhams is nice but it's v spenny. What's the area around Churchfields primary like? Thanks! :)

A (black) solicitor colleague lives in Chigwell with her husband and children. Children go to the Chigwell School (private), which has a great reputation. They have lived in the area for a long time and seem to be very happy and integrated there. I believe the area is quite desirable and multi-cultural. It is very expensive also.
