Bathroom suite recommendations

We are going to get rid of our wall mounted toilet and sink as we hate them. Not getting whole bathroom done as we don't have the cash plus the bath and tiles are OK. Going for floor standing loo and sink and vanity unit.

Anyone have recommendations for a decent supplier/brand? Preferably one that won't chip if we breathe too hard next to it! Conversely places to avoid would be great too thanks.

Don’t go near ikea for bathroom sink (not sure they do toilets). Scratched and marked from normal cleaning.

I was told (on here) to go for a toilet with a normal shaped seat as the square ones aren’t standard sizes so if the seat breaks you can’t find another one. And dirt gets strapped in their corners.

Duravit. Excellent. Have several bathrooms with their loos and basins. I also have a Laufen basin and loo. We have all wall hung loos and no issues though. Gerberit fittings and Grohe taps. All perfect after many years.

I like Kartell toilet, it is strong and the white colour goes well with the other of their brand for bathroom sets. Like this one https://serenebathrooms.com/collections/close-coupled-toilets
Depending on the style these are more easier to fit i find.

Duravit and Roca.

Checkout Which 2024 bathroom manufacturers survey and you’ll see these two high on list. Also Carron baths.
Duravit D Code is v well priced.

I hate floor standing toilets! What’s wrong with the existing one?

ReacherSaidNothing · 29/10/2024 07:02

I would ask why you hate floor standing but I'm aware it's none of my business. You do you and I'll do what I want with my own house. Thanks to the people who actually gave useful replies, appreciate it

Always an issue with flooring and cleaning, and the unsightly waste pipe/connection at the back gathering dust. Same with a pedestal sink, makes having a cupboard underneath very difficult. Wall mounted and mixer taps were invented for very valid reasons.

Sure they were but doesn't mean I want wall mounted. It's the first time I've lived in a house with wall mounted units and no other family members or friends have them either. I'm used to the cleaning so I don't see it as a major problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've got ideal standard. I wouldn't rate their boilers but their sinks and toilets are fine and polish up looking new after 20 years.

The one thing I would complain about is the seats. Seat is obviously something that can need replacing on a toilet and the ones I have have got require special seats that mean if you want to replace them it is £150, whereas the standard ones from B&Q can be £20 or less.

There is a trend for square sinks with flat bottoms. "Stuff" tends to collect on the bottom of the sink and in general they do not drain well.So something to be avoided IMO, even if most people think they look great and trendy.

We have Britton curve2 toilets and Roper Rhodes sink + vanity, as well as a Drench ava sink + vanity. I'm just getting bathrooms done so not sure but so far so good.

Could you tell us OP why you hate wall mounted toilets and sinks? I didn't realize they could be a problem.
