Household Storage

Hi, Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, trustworthy storage company? We complete on the sale of our house at the end of November and we are moving into a furnished flat for six months whilst we look for something else. I have been looking around but always prefer going with a recommendation.
Thanks

I have used safestore before. Very reliable.

I would use one that has a good reputation and get quotes as can be very expensive!

We used them years ago when we had our house refurbished - cost like £3.5k for 6 months! This is like 2007/2008 though but was a full house and we had DC at home back then!

Whereabouts? I used my removals firm. They packed my house up and put all my stuff into large wooden crates and stored it in their warehouse until I was ready for it. They dealt with all of it and it didn't cost that much.

I did this too in similar circs. I used Bishops Move who brought container direct on a lorry - loaded it all in and stored the container for about 4 months, then unloaded it at my new place. It worked well because once loaded, everything just stayed in the same container for the whole time, so there was no risk of things going astray.

I received this flyer through the door a while ago. They offer the same container service as above. A neighbour used them and said it was a good service.
Hope It helps

I used Big Yellow over the last year. I thought they were excellent. Place was very clean and climate controlled so nothing will get damp and you have access whenever you want it if there’s anything you decide you need. Staff super helpful and friendly.

Will you want to access your things whilst in storage eg to get hold of out of season clothes, or will you move it straight to your new house?

It's easiest to ask the removal company to store as well if you don't need access. They'll take it away, keep it for however long, then bring it to your new house. They'll coordinate all of that with the move from the rented place so easier.

If you do want access probably easier to use the likes of Safestore. We had them for a couple of months and it was
very easy to use and to pop into to get anything else out. If you're storing larger items like furniture then you'll need to work out how to get them to the storage.

Our movers did storage as well so it migth be worth looking into that. They had our stuff for 4 months but it was kept in the same big pallet/box things they used to empty our house. Made it much simpler (and cheaper) for them to bring everything over when we got our new place.
