Chain completion timeframe?

Is it possible that a chain becomes never ending!! What's the typical timeframe for a chain completing... our buyers are end of chain but the other way it just seems to be getting longer! We are not in a position to break the chain, what if no one can. When should we panic that our buyers won't wait around.... arrggghhhh

I suppose theoretically it is possible that the chain just gets longer & longer… but eventually someone will be motivated enough to sell that they break the chain by agreeing to go into a rental/move in with family or whatever.

When should you worry about your buyers getting fed up & starting to view other properties … the honest answer is now. Sellers should always be aware that their buyers have other options.

If your current chain shows no sign of ending I would be viewing other potential houses to buy myself tbh because the last thing you want in this market is to lose your buyer.

Thank you, this is what I feared that I should worry now we will lose our buyers.

We are still continuing to view properties and haven't had survey on our accepted offer yet- waiting for chain to complete- is this wise?

Our buyers have had survey on ours last week and those we are buying from also had their survey last week too. Some motivation?

I don't think those we are buying from would break the chain, there is suggestion that someone further up could possibly, but they don't seem to be pursuing this. I guess I'm mindful also that estate agents and vendors aren't always truthful.

Hoping for some progress this week....not much else coming up on rightmove. Trying to keep positive!

It is wise what you are doing. You owe it to your buyers really to be actively looking for a solution.

And it is a good sign that your buyers have paid for a survey already on your house as it does show motivation. They obviously really do want to buy your house so I hope that your chain closes soon, or you find a different house with a short/no chain.
