Kitchen/ diner layout

Looking for thoughts on this kitchen layout please! This will be part of an extension so we can move around the door/ window openings. The door with the green scribble goes to a study and the blue scribble goes to a large utility.

Ideally we’d like to have a dining table, small sofa/ soft seating area and keep a large island with seating (currently 3 metres long but open to reducing it or a different layout completely!). How would you change this layout? Where would you put a small sofa/ seating area?

is the sofa currently at the top of the image near the study door? it doesn't seem to look at anything or have a focus.

I might shift the island a bit further away from the study door (down the image) to give more space for the 'living area'. And have a pair of chairs with a little table instead of a sofa so that one chair can be angled towards the garden and the space has more of a purpose.

Also, i'd make more use of the 4m wall near the dining table for a dresser / storage of plates etc.

I'm not 100% sure I'm understanding the current plan, but where is the door at the bottom of the pic going? Not the blue one, but the one showing as coming into that room?
Could the island be moved either up or down and connect to a wall, to make a peninsular instead? Is still allows an island affect, but gives more space in the rest of the room for the lounge area.
I see you having a cooktop within the island. What are you doing about an exhaust? Are you having a large overhead thing? An under counter one to suck the air out downwards? An internal charcoal unit or connected underfloor to go outside?

Thank you. The full downstairs floor plan is here…We’ve changed the dimensions slightly from this one though but just to show how it fits with the rest of the downstairs. The door at the bottom of the floor plan in the original post is into the hallway.

At the moment I'm thinking of having a downdraft extractor either ducted to outside or recirculating.

Interesting idea for a peninsular rather than an island…I can’t picture how that would look!
