We are moving into our new house next week- bridging ( yelp ! ) So we don't have to empty our house immediately. We have been here 20 years and brought up our children and dogs here - we are taking them with us too !

What would your best tips be ??

Declutter, declutter and then declutter some more. Have the removals firm do the packing and dismantling (if any). Good luck!

Do it with movers

Pack a first night box and put it in trunk of your car with all the essentials you will need for first night that you don't want to go digging around for. This includes stuff for dogs

Put beds up first. Get easy dinner for first night aka take away.

Label box's with room names and box's with important things in aka kitchen - box has kettle.

Good luck

My top tips from working in removals for a decade or so:
Pack a suitcase as if you were going on holiday - enough for at least a couple of nights.
Include any important docs (passports, V5s, bank docs etc). Meds, chargers (you get the idea).
Have a small box that you put ALL remotes, house phone (if you still have one), hdmi cables etc. Add any random odds that you know will inevitably end up in the bottom of the most obscure box but you need them to work the TV or whatever.
Have a small box of cleaning stuff & vacuum cleaner that gets loaded last - necessary for any last minute spills or when you get the other end, wiping that grim looking cupboard out. (along with a small box with the kettle, mugs & biscuits!)
Assemble beds 1st - keep current bedding on & in your suitcase have a fresh set to change into. (I know, no one likes changing bedding, but clean bedding after a hectic day is bliss & reduces the potential for dust from the moving truck aggravating a good night sleep)

If you’re packing yourself, buy the boxes online ( don’t rely on scavenging them) and get a load of packing paper ( basically blank newspaper- cheap as chips) and a roll of the honeycomb paper. Way better than bubble wrap. More tape than you think you need. More sharpies than you think you need.
