Hi,
Does anyone know what Darfield, Barnsley is like please? Is it relatively safe?
I only have a small budget - around £170k for a 2 or 3 bed so can't be overly fussy.
Looking for somewhere that isn't in the middle of nowhere but also in the middle of a town centre. Always have a morning or evening walk so a bit of countryside/ countrypark etc is a must.
Barnsley does seem to fit the bill, although know there are some areas to avoid - I don't know what Darfield is like? Crime figures look OK?
Have also looked at Chesterfield but feel my budget is sitting a bit low. And not sure where 'doorstep' walks are (maybe to the west side of Chesterfield?)
Also Forest town, Mansfield due to proximity of walks and town but have been warned off (haven't ruled it out yet).
Work from home so that's not a problem and kids are older so schools not a problem.
People have suggested Sheffield but im looking at somewhere smaller - also Penistone has been suggested but it's a bit too small. So medium / large towns.
Any suggestions / advice.
