How to love your home again

We wanted to move to a bigger house (had another child) but after searching and realising we can’t afford anything bigger/better than what we have in as nice a location we’ve decided to stay put (and have fixed mortgage so not likely to move within next 5 years!). But, how can I fall back in love with my home? Everything is ok but I just feel a bit bored with it all. Any quick fixes or suggestions please?

Have a big clear out and try moving your furniture around or upgrading bits to things that you really like or are really useful rather than just functional

Paint it. Redecorate the rooms and new curtains or blinds.

It’s funny because I keep looking at what I’ve got and if I were to buy again I’d probably buy the same things! I think my tastes have changed in that I like traditional styles and my house is a 25 year old semi on an estate!

Are there other ways you can rejig to make the space work harder for you?

We recently refurbished our bathroom - removed our walk in shower and built a laundry cupboard to house the washer and dryer up there. Nice new big bath with shower over us actually more spacious than the walk in so don't feel like we've lost out!

Having the laundry upstairs has made family life a lot easier plus the two big cupboards it freed up in the kitchen.

@Gotosleep91 I don’t think so. It was a two bed and I did an extension to make it 4 bed plus a sun room, and added a garden office during covid. Could perhaps redo the main bathroom but it’s very small 2m squared with a shower over bath. I’d like to keep the bath though so not real benefit except for cosmetic (which isnt bad at all).
