This may not be the right place for this but as it is a large platform I thought I’d give it a go. Is there anyone on here who is currently a tenant of Connell’s? We rented a flat with them for a short term and they have withheld our deposit, almost £1500. The reason although not confirmed yet, is that there are some tea/food marks on the wall around the dishwasher and kettle area. The kitchen wasn’t tiled, had no splash backs and wasn’t painted in washable paint so even the smallest stain was impossible to remove. The whole place was spray painted in a powder emulsion so difficult to keep clean. We enquired twice if we needed to touch up the paint work and were told no but now they’re are saying as we didn’t report the problem on the portal they may withhold our deposit. As we’ve now moved we don’t have access to the portal but from memory I don’t recall seeing paint work on there, doors, windows, appliances yes but not paint. If anyone is currently a tenant could you sign on to the portal and see if there is a category for wall paint and let me know please? Either way we are going to challenge them as they’ve kept almost £1500 of our hard earned money which seems totally unreasonable to me but it would bolster my case if I can state there is nowhere on the portal to report such a problem.
