Recently had a kitchen fitted by independent fitters, though designed and supplied pre-built by a big retailer.
A few issues that fitters resolved, however a major issue identified right at the end when gas safe plumber came to connect the hob - there is no way to safely install it with current design!
not enough clearance at the back and the gas outlet is hitting drawer under hob, and that’s before it’s connected - the top drawer won’t close properly even without the pipe connected.
Having dug deeper, I have found manufacturers guidance for hob states minimum of 30mm (I have been sold 20mm compact laminate). Therein lies the issue! Manufacturer have told me this installation voids warranty.
I’m being completely gas lit (for want of a better word) by designer, who says they install this combo all the time no issue. Told me their fitters suggested cutting a notch out of the back of new (not cheap!) cutlery and pan drawer).
Upon complaining offered a lower drop drawer, but this doesn’t resolve issue of lack of service void clearance (tried to blame my fitter for this until I pointed out it was prebuilt).
So complaint submitted and CAB helped. Would you report to trading standards? If what he has told me (twice, in writing), there are customers out there with a non gas compliant and warranty void gas hob!
