Installing door in partition wall

Hi hoping someone can give me some advice. I want to have a partition wall knocked through in the kitchen and have a door installed where one used to be years ago. I’ve hopefully posted photo of wall. I’ve been quoted £950 by one builder so far. Does that sound right? My dad has some experience with these things and says that quote too high.
Thanks.

Does that include all the materials ? The door and furniture can vary a lot ?

Yes it does but he’s since put the price up to £1500 because I want both sides of the wall finished off? Why would I want just one side finished? I don’t understand. Wants £500 deposit to.

The advice is always to get several quotes and compare them, materials, finish, time.

Getting another quote tonight when my husband is back from work. Pricing might be different if they’re not just dealing with what they think is a silly little woman who doesn’t know anything.
