In desperate need of advice and suggestions

I am currently buying a property (leasehold) with a friend as tenants in common in equal shares in the East Midlands. We started the process around March-April this year and we were told by the mortgage broker that the property should be ready to move in by end of August/beginning of September. Unfortunately this did not happen due to the seller waiting on moving too (his initial offer was cancelled as his seller had a change of mind, so he has had to search for another property which apparently is empty and he has just started the process again). I am basically homeless at the moment, as I had to leave my rental due to problems with the flat. I am currently living with family and it is a bit uncomfortable and I really want to move out. We are awaiting a completion date from the seller and this has not been confirmed yet. I am not quite sure if it is going to be any time soon. I want to rent a place in the meantime but most landlords offer a tenancy agreement of minimum 6 months (I believe the property we are buying should be ready by then) but I am desperate to have my own space too as staying with family now isn't very ideal. Would I be able to agree a completion date in the next 6 months as the long wait isn't my fault and I am in a situation where waiting to move isn't ok anymore.Does anyone know of any short let agencies in the East Midlands. Please advise. Thanks
