Did you keep your cleaner during your renov?

*Reno!
We have a lovely cleaner who comes to us fortnightly. We are planning a fairly major reno of our terrace home next year (new extension, kitchen, utility/WC, new ground floor flooring). Expecting the build to take 3-4 months and then 6-8 weeks for finishing works. Would you ask your cleaner to keep coming in over that period? Trying to balance retaining a great cleaner with the anticipated disruption/mess and a tight reno budget. What would you do / did you do in similar situation?

It really wouldn't be fair to expect a cleaner to deal with building dust mess. It is honestly awful. Could she maybe just do upstairs while the work is going on? Otherwise I would let her go and hope she has space again after

Give her a choice, but make sure you emphasise it’s up to her but you would like her to continue. Offer her double money for the refurb period to cover the sheer grind of cleaning up after builders - but make sure it’s for a limited period.

you will be very thankful for her during the refurb.

Double? Id of thought shes be doing less as loads of areas would be inaccessible

Thanks all, I’ll see what she says - hopefully she has space to return to us when the work is complete
