Buying a 'development property'

Our elderly NDN sadly died earlier this year and their bungalow has now come onto the market.

it's a corner plot, with one side being a shared boundary with us. Unfortunately it's completely dilapidated and would have to be razed to the ground.

We're toying with the idea of buying it for some extra space rather than to rebuild a new bungalow on it, but don't know if we'd be buying into a project we'd live to regret!

Would we be completely mad?

You’d need to apply for planning permission to demolish it, even if you aren’t building anything else, so I’d start by getting informal guidance by the council. They make a small charge to do that. (We removed some stables etc from one of our paddocks)

What a great idea!

That's very helpful @Mumblechum0 I didn't know we'd have to get planning permission. We were thinking that if we didn't demolish it, we'd have to pay council tax.

just wondering if the council could place a condition on us to have to rebuild a new property in its place...
