I’m in the process of selling my house and buying one.
We are in a chain, it goes -
first time buyers, my buyers, us and my seller (sellers property is empty so chain ends with him).
First time ever being in a chain and personally don’t remember a lot of the buying process before.
We have signed our contract for our sale and purchase.
We were told by our solicitor last Friday that we can look at completion as we are sorted on both sides now.
All offers were accepted end of July, we’ve been in the legal process for nearly 8 weeks.
Searches are all back, mortgage offers in place etc.
We have received everything for the house we are buying like property form, deed, fixtures and fittings.
Likewise we have provided all relevant documents to my solicitor on the house we are selling.
I have already contacted our solicitor for more of an update aswell because I feel like we are a bit in limbo at the moment.
Just looking for advice from anyone who’s been in this position before, what happens next? How likely are we to be waiting for completion?
like I mentioned I have chased our solicitors about next steps but they seem very evasive and when I try to discuss completion etc or what the road is going to look like for us they shut it down very quickly and tell me we will discuss it when the time comes.
I understand fully it takes 8-12 weeks and appreciate there’s a lot that needs to be done. We will be at the 12 week mark within 3/4 weeks and to me right now it doesn’t feel like we will be moved in even close to that.
Also something to note, my buyers approached my neighbour's end of august and in that conversation they told my neighbour's they were looking to move in November.
So also unsure if they are the ones delaying the process?
This is something I also raised to my solicitor and it was brushed off.
Like I mentioned I understand being in a chain is complicated etc but searches, questions from our solicitors and paperwork have all be done for about 4 weeks at this point.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
