Roof Dilemma

I bought my house three years ago and since then I’ve been having never ending torment with the roof. It was a three bed detached but an extension was put on in 2000 which turned into a 5 bed house. The problem is the extension where the two roofs meet and we have three valleys on the extension roof that constantly leak. We’ve had a major repairs to the roof which have cost as awful lot of money but still the problems persist. I had another roofer out today who said that resetting the valleys would set us back another £3.5k with the scaffolding but that might not resolve the issue. We also have issues with the chimney and need to get it removed.

The roofer said he could redo the whole roof for £18k including removing the chimney. It’s a large roof and I have the money for it but I just don’t know what to do, the constant leaks are having an enormous impact on my mental health. This roofer is very trustworthy and has a good reputation locally, I’m going to get a few more quotes but I don’t and won’t go with a roofer I don’t have trust in. What would you do?

If parts of the roof are pretty old and I could afford the work I'd be tempted to have it all redone. It's a lot of money and upheaval but it'll save you the stress in the long run.

if you can afford it, get the whole thing properly fixed in one go by a reliable roofer. much simpler and less stress than doing piecemeal fixes

Hi, Hope you are well!
I‘ve seen the post and my husband is a roofer. I can send you his contact details and company information so you can speak directly with him. Hope that helps
