House hunting - tips/advice

I have been house hunting in Brighton for ages now and nothing seems to tick all the boxes. I can go up to £450k and all I really want is a comfortable space with 2 double decently sized bedrooms - ideally not in a basement, garden optional.

I feel like my requirements are quite basic but it feels impossible and I can't up my budget because I've been saving in to a LISA and that is the limit.

Has anyone got any good tips for house hunting? Especially in Brighton or Hove!

Only 1 of those you posted is actually in Brighton and it's quite far out of the city.

I think that's probably the issue - we're trying to find something fairly central because we need the train station to commute. We'd be happy to go out to Hove because there's a direct line to London there too. Maybe my requirements are much more complex actually thinking about it!

Are you actually viewing the houses or just looking on line?

I had a long list of requirements that meant I dismissed many properties on line without seeing them.
Walked into my current house which met barely any of my requirements and fell in love.
