Help with Cupboard Design

I'm redoing my kitchen and the renovation is freeing up a space in my hallway for a large storage cupboard. This could be up to 1.1m wide and 1.2m deep but ideally would be less wide to give more space on the other side of the wall. I want to make sure I plan the size and the shelving perfectly so it doesn't become a messy dumping ground but I'm not really sure what we'll be putting in there yet and was hoping mn could give me some pointers.

We will have a separate coat and shoe closet and a separate utility cupboard so I want this cupboard to hold all the other bits and bobs that don't go anywhere else. I'm thinking kids sports equipment, picnic things, tools you keep in the house not the shed, etc. But my kids are still toddlers and my imagination is failing me on the rest. Any ideas on what you end up needing to put in a cupboard like this and tips on arranging it?

Drawers not shelves, and design it so you can use the space on the back of the door too. With hooks and/or those narrow spice rack type shelves for bits and bobs.
