Worrying cracks in internal walls - use insurance or not?

ive got a worrying internal crack which seems more than normal plaster settling. An extension was added around 15 years ago and the start of the crack is between the extension and the original house, but it then travels around. It is a long crack going along 3 walls internally, but 4mm wide max. No external signs and it has built up very gradually, over years.

Anyone any experience of using house insurance for something like this to be investigated? Or will it out my premiums up forever? I’ve had house insurance for years and have been lucky to have never had to claim anything ever!

Or would it be better to pay a surveyor myself?
