Shit seller and shit solicitor

Ahhh!!! Just a bloody moan. I know there's nothing anyone can do.

My seller has been such a pain throughout this whole process, as slow as a fucking snail. Her solicitor isn't any better. My solicitor on the other hand has been fantastic. Also, the estate agents have been very helpful.

We are still waiting on paperwork. It shouldn't take this long to check things over. I phoned the agent this morning and asked them to chase again and apparently the sellers solicitor has buggered off on annual leave. This is after he said he would prioritise sending the paperwork over to us last week to try and speed things up.

Honestly I feel like I should pay myself a fee because I've done so much chasing. I love the house and have already spent money so don't really want to pull out and there's nothing else on the market, but my god I'm getting so frustrated with them!!!

No advice but I feel your pain. The selling agent is crap in our case too. Good luck!

@butterdish601 Thank you, you have my sympathies too. It's such a frustrating process that we have no control over!

How long have you been waiting?

We're in this process too, about 4 months in. We're in a chain and desperate to move, we have been all packed to go for weeks! Our solicitors (recommended by the estate agents) have been shockingly bad at communicating, as have those above us. I know our buyers must be getting antsy, but please remember it's not always the sellers fault. Every bit of paperwork/checks we've had to do we have completed within 24 hours. Believe me I would sack ours if I could but it's too late now and the sale will fall through if I did or at least be massively delayed even more. I've been chasing mine daily since August, it's absolutely ridiculous!

I've been sat here googling just now to see if I would have any leg to stand on if I were to refuse to pay them but I don't think I would.

OP, are we buying the same house?! Exact same situation here. When the seller and the solicitor are both shit, you can't rely on either one chasing up the other. My mortgage offer is now about to expire, and I feel like the seller's solicitor is just going to sit back and let it happen. So stressful and frustrating!

Hope you've had a bit of an update since you posted.

It's so frustrating isn't it.

In hindsight I wish we had made it clear that their delays (solicitor or otherwise) would result in our offer lowering.

They knew we were on a tight timescale and whilst I don't THINK they were purposely slowing paperwork things down, it has niggled at me since. We wrote off lots of unanswered enquiries, and a few have come back to bite us (as we anticipated they might), in order to get the move completed.

If hear you. I was selling my Grans house (she moved into sheltered) and the buyer delayed and delayed this and that for 5 months then pulled out.

We had to get a new home report as it was now out of date.

They moved at a race pace and it was so refreshing. Had a ton of questions and stipulations but turns out solicitor was the mother of one of the buyers, shows how quickly it can be done when needed.
