Creating a downstairs shower room

Currently viewing houses with a view to purchasing what may be my forever home. In an attempt to future proof I'd like a downstairs shower room which only a few have. Obviously bungalows do, although may be a bath rather than a shower, but would prefer a house.

What do I need to understand plumbingwise etc regarding whether, for instance, a garage / storage space etc would be suitable for repurposing into a shower room?

Would like to call up the helpful guy who sometimes pops up on these threads but can't recall his name. If anyone knows, please give him a shout for me.

You need to identify where you will get the water supply from for the shower room and where will the drainage will go. So it would be easier to locate it close to where there is already water and drainage, for example next to an existing downstairs WC or near a kitchen. Then the supply can be extended to the new, and the new drainage can be connected into the existing. See where the external soil vent pipe is in relation to where you want the shower room (bigger pipe that generally goes from the ground right up to above the guttering line).

You could always get a stair lift so you have access to the bathroom.
