My units are cream shaker style. I’m thinking of updating the look. What colour should I go for?

What colour are your tiles and flooring?

Deliiciousllydifffident · 16/09/2024 09:08

I’m going to update those as well. I just don’t want to pick something that will look dated by next year.

I think every colour dates. If you want longevity brilliant white is the answer. The more white you put in; cupboards, walls, tiles, ceiling, woodwork, the better it looks. Then choose something darkish but neutral for floors and worktops.

We went with a forest green. We love it.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/09/2024 09:58

I'd stink with white. Anything else will date.

Deliiciousllydifffident · 16/09/2024 10:44

Thanks everyone. White it is! What about the worktops?

I think if you're going to be in the house a while then choose whatever makes YOU happy, since you're the one that spends the time in there everyday. I'm hankering after sunny yellow with stainless steel worktops

Gamergirl86 · 16/09/2024 11:27

I'm having pink kitchen fitted in month. I've always wanted one and I don't care what current trends are!

housethatbuiltme · 16/09/2024 11:55

Shaker kitchens are going to date anyway so paint it whatever you want and like.

Unlike others I would avoid white, you don't want to look like you live in a cheap landlord buy to let.

PocketSand · 16/09/2024 17:50

Yeah fuck resale - I've just had shaker timber cabinets in dusk blue in my newly fiited kitchen. Large kitchen with morning light and I love them.

Somanypiessolittletime · 16/09/2024 17:57

I really want navy units with white worktops. Sadly my kitchen is boring white with super annoying wood worktops which need bloody sanding and oiling ALL THE TIME. Don't get wooden worktops

Get on Pinterest and see what you like. Personally I have seen a few yellow kitchens I like the look of. I also would avoid white, the nicest kitchens at the moment have a colour with white/off white walls.
