Does anyone have upvc sash windows?

We're buying a Victorian house with single-glazed windows, some of which are in quite poor condition. I've seen some upvc sash windows on houses in neighbouring streets that look very convincing, you can only tell if you look quite hard they're not traditional wooden windows because the detailing is great.

Does anyone have these on their own home and, if so, do they open like traditional Victorian sashes?

Where are you? We paid £9k for 9 upvc sash windows last year including a large bay in North West London. The company we used is in Essex and covers the surrounding areas up to West London.

Would you be ok to please share the name of this company? I’m looking to get my windows replaced and have been quoted upwards of £25k for 2 bay windows and 1 normal window so would be great to find someone cheaper!

It was this company. If you email them spec and measurements they should come back to you with an approx cost within 1-2 days

My mum’s house has them. They are fabulous compared to the previous originals- glide up and down so easily and the house is so much warmer. The photo from outside shows the original windows on the house to the left of the picture and new pvc windows on the house to the right. They were replaced 15 years ago, still look and work great.

We looked at them - they were v nice IMO. The window place we used was a really good one and did double glazed sashes in PVC or wood. Both slid up and down like traditional sashes.
We went for the wood ones in the end - but the PVC were good, and much cheaper.
I would recommend that you actually see, and open them, before making your decision. We could visit a show room where all the windows were on display, and it's worth doing that.
