Westbury Park Bristol

Does anyone know/live in Westbury Park area of Bristol? We're considering moving for Redland secondary school..... which seems to be very good?
We've walked around the area a bit, but hard to pick up on local area vibe! Interested to hear what the local community is like, where do you head for a local high street, activities /independence for tweens/teens. And if the school reports online reflect real experience too. Also, how easy is it to escape the city from there? Any tips /insights really!

Thanks in advance!

We're currently in the moving process within Bristol (from Clifton to Bishopston) and we did initially consider Westbury Park. Lived in Bristol 10 years.

Pro's:
Next to downs
Some nice shops/cafes nearby
Quiet (could be a con depending on what you want!)

Con's:
Extremely expensive (600k odd for a 2 bed house)
I'd say average age is 50+ (again, could be a pro depending on what you want!)
Not near a train station (Bus to Temple meads from there in reality takes about an hour, no jokes!).
The Downs in nice...but dodgy at night. Definitely not somewhere you want to be after dark.

We're moving to Bishopston instead because you get more for your money, within walking distance to Redland/Montpelier station. Easy access to all the facilities and bus services into the centre on Gloucester Road plus can still walk to Whiteladies, Clifton village at a push. I believe some areas of Bishopston are within Redland Green catchment area.

Westbury Park is nice, we just didn't like it enough to pay the insane prices.

Thank you for this - really informative. Do you know anything about Redland green school itself at all?

Welcome further insight too!

I don’t have children so i know very little about schools in Bristol. But there is a reason Bristol has one of the highest concentrations of private schools in the country. I’m under the impression that BANES (Bath) has better state schools than Bristol. If I were to have children I’d consider moving away from Bristol tbh.
