Basin misery (photo)

Hi
Had our basin and bottle trap installed. Love it. But then there's these random extra silver bits I wasn't expecting! Going to ask my plumber tomorrow but trying to work out if I should have seen this coming. Not many images of basins abs bottle traps look like this online. Not what I was expecting 😕 Any thoughts? Is yours the same?!

They're not random silver bits - they're the water pipes!

NonmagicMike · 09/09/2024 20:52

What the hot and cold water feeds!?

NotMeNoNo · 09/09/2024 20:53

It's the hot and cold tap connectors. Hard to conceal with a tiny basin. Would you rather they were black, white or invisible?

At least your plumber didn't fit a white plastic u-bend in full view like ours did once!

Lottle · 09/09/2024 20:55

Thanks. Black would be better I guess. Just all these pics you never see them

These are the hot and cold water feeds to the trap. I can see why you're disappointed: they're not normally so much on show.

NotMeNoNo · 09/09/2024 20:58

You could wrap them in black electrical tape...

Tap, not trap

TerfTalking · 09/09/2024 21:02

Course they don’t show you because a) you might not buy it and b) the water feed appearance will differ depending upon the plumber, location and the fixings used.

They exist on all basins but are usually hidden in the pedestal or unit.

I think it’s a neat job.

Papricat · 09/09/2024 21:19

Just cut them off if your favour esthetics over utility.

Thanks, I could just put some hand gel on the side instead maybe

When you are stood up looking down on the basin they won't be seen tbh.

@RandomMess It's when I'm sat on the toilet opposite! 😫!

Yeah that looks untidy , way too much pipe on show. You can get 90 degree fittings that come out the wall and go straight up,together with a shorter pipe and you would see a lot less of it.

if the hot and cold pipes came out the wall right below the sink then I’m not sure you would hardly see it at all unless you stuck your head under.

nice sink / taps. Crap pipework
