How long should a lease extension take?

I applied for a lease extension 6 months ago on my ex-LA maisonette, which currently has 83 years left, and paid around £400 for some initial legal work to Southwark Council. That was six months ago, and despite chasing I have heard NOTHING. Does anyone have a clue how long this work should take?

Ours started Feb 2021, concluded Aug 2023. And with no complications! There was a Covid backlog though. Perhaps it's eased since then.
