Match gloss colour or not?

I have made a new newel post top but now realise that the existing paint on the bannisters has yellowed more than I thought.
I am in the process of tidying up in order to sell the house and really don't want to have to repaint all of the gloss work in the hall, stairs and landing. It is an Edwardian property and it would mean preparing and painting 11 doors and surrounds, the skirting boards, all with fiddly mouldings, plus the staircase with intricate carved spindles.
Should I try and match the yellow gloss colour - I'd probably have to get paint mixed to order, or just fix it on and leave the colour difference, or just repaint the newel post? Or any other suggestions!

The photo shows it just balanced on top

Just do it a contrasting colour….that way it looks intentional.

You could get a test pot mixed to order at somewhere like johnstones for about a fiver.

Or be deliberately intentional as above!

Have you tried giving it all a good clean?

When was it last painted - seems odd it’s gone very yellow if originally white.

If it's yellowed, it's oil-based. If you paint modern water-based gloss on top of that it won't adhere properly unless you take on the job of rubbing down, priming etc as well as a fresh coat of paint. If you are selling, life is way too short for that.I'd just leave as it is and let the new owners match as they choose.

It was last painted probably 15 years ago, as it is an absolute PITA job. @MidnightPatrol - I am going to give it all a bit of a wipe over to remove the obvious grot, but its not going to change the colour.

I think I will just fix it on and leave it. I am dead proud of having made it and it would be a waste to not use it!
