Cracked chimney flaunching + repointing needed

Hello

i’ve discovered a bit of damp on my upstairs chimney breast wall. I bought the house a week ago. The surveyor (level 3 building survey) used a drone to access the roof and said the chimney stack for this has some cracked flaunching and some repointing needed. I’m not sure about the lead flashing.

just wondering how much repair to flaunching is and repointing to a chimney stack is - I’m based in SW London?

i also want to get rid of the chimney stack in the future and eventually the chimney breasts.

is it more cost effective to remove the chimney stack now (not the chimney breasts) as I see it needing more maintenance in the future? Are there any problems I need to know about when removing a chimney stack?

I’m based in SW London. I will get a roof specialist out but have to wait til Monday, so thought I’d try here.

thank you for your help.

Well the repair won't be ridiculous but you will need to add several hundred for scaffold.

We've had our chimney re-pointed on both houses we've owned. Didn't have any other work done to the first house, the second one he patched up the roof lining, repointed chimney and part of the leading. Didn't feel like a big deal. We didn't ask either to, but both climbed up roof, ie didn't use scaffolding.

Thanks so much to you both.

there is more heavy rain due today and the next few days. I’m a bit anxious about further damp. I’ve ripped the wallpaper a bit to allow air to it and hopefully breathe a bit. Windows are open a bit,

i did find a bit of black mould behind the wallpaper, so I think this has been happening before but on this occasion it’s spread through more

is it an emergency or can I wait a week? (I’m guessing the roofer will have other jobs before they can get to me).
