FTB Building insurance question

Hi all, FTBs so probably a silly question.
Filling out the building insurance form - it’s asking all sorts of things such as if there is water near the house, trees higher than 10m, the type of locks used on the doors and windows etc.

I’m a bit confused how to find this information as we only viewed the house once, and we obviously need to have the insurance in place by the time we get the keys.

I have emailed the estate agent to ask, but is that usual practice? Is there some document where all this information would be readily accessible?

We’re in Scotland if it makes any difference

The full set of estate agent photos will normally help you answer most of the questions. Otherwise give the more cautious answer - there may be trees over 10m or you aren't sure what the locks are. Note that some insurers ask different questions to others, and sometimes you may need to shop around to take advantage of that.

Ask the estate agent if you really need one thing, but they aren't going to get every little detail for you. We have paid a little more in the first year for insurance for exactly this reason, then got it lower the next year once we had definite knowledge of everything!

Yes I would ask the EA to ask the seller the answer to those questions, some they will know some they may not
