Discreet marketing?

Has anyone ever sold their house through an EA with only discreet or secret marketing? As in, there's no listing or public marketing, but EAs bring through clients who they know might be interested. We are not desperate to move, would just like to eventually, and think we might be more comfortable with this way of selling. Any experiences selling (or buying) this way would be helpful to hear!

Yes- literally just done this- I was a bit torn between sell or rent it out so agreed a “whisper sale”- they still did the photos, floorplan and brochure but it’s not on RM and there’s no board. We have had an offer which we’ve accepted. Good thing is if it falls through the property is still “fresh”. I think the “see it before it goes on RM” line from EAs still works even though it shouldn’t.

However, I think it can be agent and area specific- our agent is “the agent” for this area which is known for whisper sales so I think that helps- people know there’s more available than what’s on RM.

Also means you won’t get linked and abused for your interior choices on MN 🤣🤣

LaPalmaLlama thank you that is so helpful. I'm interested to hear they still made up marketing materials for you. It will be nice to get some photos now when the garden's still looking colourful. Will have to figure out who the agent known for whisper sales is round here. I do believe our particular street is quite sought-after so I think we'll give it a try, and if nothing happens we can look at going fully on the market next spring.
