So.... Hemnes shoe storage. The kind that pulls out and you can store stuff? IKEA has other similar products. Here's my challenge. Does anyone know of a similar mechanism for the storage of rucksacks? As in, just open and slide it in, pull out what needed?

Needs to be closed like the shoe storage flaps. I need basically a double depth flap if that makes sense?

I'm currently going down the same rabbit hole. We have the hemnes shoe storage but with one door with the hinge broken it's not great. We have over stuffed coat hooks which looks messy. And then there is the school bags 🤦🏻‍♀️🙈

Wondering about IKEA Nordli bench for bags (maybe 2 high so can use as shelf for phone and post and then ? and then a narrow IKEA Pax for shoes/ coats. The flip down cupboard doors of the Hemnes would not support the weight of my kids bags. I doubt anything similar would unless industrial strength hydraulic hinges! This what I'm currently considering pax wardrobe probably the shallow 35cm deep one with doors I can close on all the mess.

Yes, pax is the most practical. Or Platsa, which is smaller and modular. We have it because Pax was too tall. The backpacks are on a shelf behind the doors. I think I’ll replace a shelf with a wire basket (if they still make them for Platsa) because they will be better contained within, but the principle will be the same.

Can't you get a Kallax with a door on ?

I have several cube storage with doors on, including one for vinyl. The door just looks neater. And some of them have dividers so two backpacks in one cube hole?

The kallax is too thick, comes out too far. I want a slimline solution like the hemnes shoe storage.

I hear your comment about the Kallax. But just to put it out there.. apparently you can fit the Kallax doors as pull down... They are a box insert. You are ment to screw them to the Kallax but in practice you don't have to.

We currently have a 4 hole expedit under our coat rack so I'm going to clean that up first and fix the hemnes before I go crazy buying new solutions. Will stalk this thread for inspiration!
