House rewire - certificate for building control??

Hello
If I get a house electrical rewire done, does the electrician send Building Control a certificate for the work done and that it’s safe? FTB here just figuring it out…

The electrician signs it all off and notifies whoever needs telling. I certainly didn't have to do anything except pay when I had mine done.

The electrician sends the notification to building control and provides the customer with a certificate.
