Shutters or blinds?

Are there any downsides to getting shutters? Anyone have them and regret it?

You mean like the wooden slatted ones that go inside the windows? I have them and love them. Only thing to know is you can only get them if your windows open outwards, so not tilt ones.

Thats not true, You can have them fitted away from the window so the window can still have room to tilt inwards with the shutters closed. You can also have the shutters fitted to the wall around the window opening/ recces.
