Loft conversion

Hi, I'm thinking of converting my truss roof loft to proper storage without converting them to bedrooms. Can someone tell me approximately how much that would cost?

Depends on your loft size and exactly what you want.

You can have just the loft floor insulating and boarding, which is prob going to be £1000-1500, or insulation in the rafters as well to keep the loft dust-proof and at a more constant temperature (likely to be £3500-4000), or fully plastered with velux windows etc, which is likely to be £6000+

We had rafter insulation and the floor boarded/new ladder installed (if you google “warm loft vs cold loft” you should see what I mean). Cost us £3500 and is great, we were able to get rid of our storage unit and everything is easily accessible.

@Saschka Thanks for the information. It was helpful.

@Saschka, I have one more question for you. I recently read online that plastering and boarding the truss roof for storage purposes may require permission from the building control department, as the truss may need to be removed. Could you please clarify if this is indeed the case?
