What’s wrong with the window

Hi. I have this window that seems to be stained. I cannot get it off it’s definitely on the outside. I was thinking that it was because of the seal possibly being the issue but cannot see any problems with that. Any ideas what it could be and how to get rid.

Is it rough (or not as smooth as glass) to the touch?
If you run a razor blade/stanley blade across the glass does it scrape off?

No it’s smooth. It looks like it’s been wiped with a wet cloth but not dried and the water left the marks.

Does it react to vinegar?

It's not between the panes? Looks like a blown unit.

Has your window cleaner (or you) used a product on it that has caused it?

DogInATent · 30/08/2024 14:35

If you've got a mirror you can hold it against the glass and see whether it's on the outside or inside of the pane.

Have the bricks been sealed with some clear waterproof sealer such as Thomsons water seal? If so maybe try some white spirit? Maybe worth trying white spirit anyway

Only ever used soapy water or window cleaner it’s only the one window it happened to

If you have tried everything you can think of by now, I think I'd give a local window repair company a call and see what they say. Might be blown somewhere you can't see so replacement might be on the cards.
