Hi all.
this may be a daft question, we exchange today and complete on monday.
ive got a food shop etc ordered for delivery to the new house, when/how did i change billing address for bank cards-
should i do that today after exchange?

It is not your address until you complete.

I wouldn't do an online shop until I was in the new house. Anything could happen between now and then.

Just stick an online redirect on all your post and worry about everything else once you're settled! No need to do anything until you're unpacked

You can have a food delivery to anywhere, it doesn't have to be the address attached to the card. You would not be changing those addresses till you COMPLETE anyway, and I think you do it online if you have an app, but may need proof of new address (can't remember even though I've moved not that long ago)!
Be sure to get the Royal Mail to redirect your post for at least six months. You'd be amazed how many people forget (you are already late if you haven't done it as they require notice).

We're hopefully exchanging today too! Good luck. We're doing to royal mail redirect then changing addresses after we've moved in.

Sanch1 · 29/08/2024 10:16

I wouldnt worry about changing billing address. My old address has been the billing address on my online tesco account since we moved 4 years ago and its never been as issue!

sweetpickle2 · 29/08/2024 10:58

As others have said, I wouldn't bother doing any of that until after you've moved.

Royal Mail redirect is invaluable though, the people we bought off obviously didn't do that and we're still getting all their post six month later 😡

Agree with this - get your post redirect set up as soon as you exchange (have it actually start from completion day) then work through sorting all your address changes during the first week or two of being in your new house.
