Relocating within a 30 minute drive to Milton Keynes

Hi! We are looking to move close to Milton Keynes for work next year.

Things that are important to us are:

  • Schools. We have primary aged DC so it would be great to be in the catchment area for/fairly local to outstanding schools. I believe some areas nearby have grammar schools?
  • Fairly rural whilst also having things to do nearby. We currently live in a village close to Leamington Spa and love it here.
  • Lots going on for children and toddlers.
  • It would be great to be close to a train station so that I can get the train into London with the DC. This isn’t a necessity, but would be a nice benefit!

We have an £800k budget for a 4/5 bed detached. We may be able to stretch to £900k. Looking ideally for something around the 2500 sqft size.

Does anybody have any area recommendations, please?

TIA!

The firm I worked for was due to relocate to MK and after a lot of looking we decided on Towcester. No station though.

That was a few years ago now so things might have changed.

In the end, the move never came off for various reasons.

Having just spent today at the Winslow show followed by a look at the, soon to be opened, new station on the east/west rail line where building is nearing completion. I would suggest taking a look at Winslow. Its a small country town close to MK the centre has an old tradional feel to it but there are new houses being built further out near the station.

Olney is lovely. Ampthill (station at Flitwick). Or the Linslade side of Leighton Buzzard is nice and has fast trains into London. You’d get something fab in any of those with your budget.

Agree, Olney and some of the villages around there are lovely.
