Storage costs

Anyone got a rough idea of how much storage costs? We may have to move house with work and it will be a massive downsize (hopefully temporarily) and I want to put some things in storage (boxes of books mainly). I keep looking at local storage place websites but they all want to call me for a quote and I really don't want anyone to know our plans right now. I just need a rough idea so I can float it to DH.

I went through this and settled with Store First. Roughly transition van sized storage was (iirc) circa £135 pcm and half price for first 13 weeks.
These were the least pushy!

I pay £200/month for a 10x10 room. Not pushy at all (Safestore, London).

£120 month for three big wooden containers, insured.

I'd use a proper removal company.

Round my way lots of storage facilities offer half price rates for the first 2 months….that was all we needed …..so it made a big difference to the price

I know what you mean about the storage companies, they refuse to give even a basic ballpark figure and will only quote on your specific circumstances.
The trouble with that is that there can be so many variables that sometimes you just can't give them the information to get a quote.

Around here a steel container is £130/month.

Try somewhere like the Safestore website - I used that to get an idea of the quantity we could store for £x.

I use independent storage on a farm, it's around 1/3 the cost of the main big name suppliers locally.

small shed sized storage is about 100 a month round our way.
