Smelly washing machine

My washing machine smells when running, and just after running. Its coming from the top of the machine where there is a gap between the unit and the countertop. I had a plumber in the other day and it was mouldy behind the machine, but the walls were dry. Not sure what the problem is?

Sounds like condensation if the machine was mouldy. Do you wash at 30 degrees?

Yes I usually wash at 30 degrees unless its towels and sheets.

I wash at 40c min now. Once a month I’ll dump half a bag of soda crystals in the drum and empty run at 90c. Clears it out. I always leave door and tray open when not in use. No mould and smell problems now.

If I use pods, liquid it makes my machine stink also running it at 20 or 30 degrees makes it smell bad too
I use biological powder and a couple of tablespoons of soda crystals in every wash and like the previous poster a 90 degree wash with half a bag of soda crystals once a month

Thanks for the help. Interesting a day after doing my usual washing and with the machine not in use, there is no smell. I do always keep the door open. Last night I ran the drum cleaning cycle with a small amount of soda crystals. There is water in my detergent drawer, is that normal? I am not able to pull the machine out from behind the wall to see if there is any wetness after its been used.
