Wondering if anyone has any advice on the attached image. I recently bought a house which has already had a kitchen extension. Single story extension from the dining room which is left side on this image. To the right is the original kitchen. U can see a lintel has heen placed where the original wall was which connects to the pillar which was part of the original wall. What I want to know is can this pillar be removed in some way as I want to extend the patio doors so they are wider but ideally want this pillar removing but unsure where the existing lintel would fasten to if this was done. There's also the soil stack which is boxed in to the side of this pillar which I would somehow need this moving outside also. U can see it in the second image
Any ideas guys?

I suspect it would be a lot of work for not a great deal of.gain? Moving soil stacks and lintels is a lot of work.

You would need a structural engineer to calculate what steels would replace the pillar

Im guessing here but the there are probably 2 rsj’s there , one on each side of the pillar and the boxed in soil stack is where it originally was when it was on the outside wall ?

it would need one bigger rsj across the width of the room to be able to completely remove the pillar.

The soil pipe could be moved to the outside wall but that all depends on the layout upstairs/ ceiling/ outside.

Its not a small job by any means and i think the most difficult part would be figuring out how to get a rsj that big ( long ) into the room ?
