Best armchair / wingback chair under £6000

Can't edit title but that should read £600 and not 6000!!

I am looking for high back fabric / velvet armchairs which look sleek, not frumpy, for my living room. I have specific colours in mind, but keen to get tried and tested recommendations before i bother about colours. Budget is around £600 per. I have an ikea strandmon chair which - though quite comfy- doesn't give the look I am after. Thank you.

Look at dunelm

Dontbesaft · 08/08/2024 22:31

Oh I was here with 🥤 to watch the row over ludicrously expensive chairs🤣

hope you get something beautiful

It's not velvet though I'm sure it was available in lots of different fabrics but I had one from John Lewis which is lovely, gets lots of comments. It's got a slightly different shaped back, looks lovely.

It's this one https://www.johnlewis.com/_/p751242?s_appdroid=1

Why not get your ikea chair recovered? Then you get exactly what you want?

JaninaDuszejko · 09/08/2024 12:25

But otherwise agree with @seaside3 that reupholstering the IKEA chair might be an option, it may cost more than £600 though.

Next do some lovely accent chairs. You can get the same style in different sizes and fabrics. The Sherlock one is about £600

I have a wing back chair that I got from DFS about ten years ago. The arms have worn through and it needs recovering. However, the cost of recovering it is more than I paid for the chair originally!

I also love the Buoyant Throne chairs. I think they are around £800

I recently bought a cover for my ikea chair which changed its look - excuse the folds in the pic I've straightened them out now 😊

@CommaChameleon7 where did you get the cover from please? I have a Next Sherlock which is similar shape but needs protection from the cats

CommaChameleon7 · 09/08/2024 16:54

@Purplebunnie it was from Temu 🙈 the only one ikea seems to do is a canvas type. This one is jersey material

Have you looked on wayfair?

@SaintHonoria I went all the way to the only Barker and Stonehouse showroom In town to try their armchairs last weekend! I also had my eye on the Ribera but they didn't have any on display sadly. I an not sure I want to buy a chair without trying it. Although at that price I suppose I could afford to return it (they charge for both delivery and returns).
